nCino Mortgage POS wins 2 of 5 axes against Blend, on the weight profile published for this category. Full head-to-head →
Where it wins
- Genuinely mobile-first rather than mobile-adapted. It started on the phone and still behaves that way. That shows up directly in borrower completion rates and LO productivity.
- Broadest enterprise footprint here, sitting on a platform nCino says serves over 2,700 financial institutions.
- Modular scope goes well past intake. Nexus Closing handles hybrid eClosings and Nexus Vision provides enterprise BI. CompenSafe manages LO incentive compensation, which no other platform here touches.
- Treats the LO and the real estate agent as a unit, with co-branded marketing and shared pipeline views. That fits how retail purchase business actually closes.
- The current AI layer is shipping, not announced. Mortgage Advisor runs always-on borrower engagement with real-time pricing. Doc Validation classifies documents and populates fields.
Where it falls short
- Post-acquisition sentiment is a real and recurring theme. Capterra reviewers say much of what made SimpleNexus distinctive was lost under nCino's management. That criticism recurs often enough to test directly with current customers.
- Two brand identities are still in circulation three years after the rebrand. Support and documentation are split between SimpleNexus and nCino naming. Minor, but it signals an integration that is not finished.
- Mortgage sits inside a company whose center of gravity is banking software. Its roadmap priority competes with commercial and consumer lending.
- Published ROI figures are vendor-modeled rather than independently audited.
- No published pricing, and the modular structure means the quoted number depends heavily on which Nexus components you take.
Why it scores 4.7
Scored on the Point of Sale weight profile. The number shows where it sits in this category. It rests on evidence anyone can check, including the vendor's own record. The weights →
Production impact
35% of scoreTwo checkable numbers carry this. Verification coverage went from 47 percent to over 70 percent through Freddie Mac AIM, worth roughly $74 a verification against The Work Number. eClose cuts time to close by as much as 66 percent. Vendor figures, and vendor-modeled rather than audited, but quantified and tied to named mechanisms rather than left abstract. The third lever is adoption. It started on the phone and still behaves that way, which shows up in borrower completion rates and loan officer productivity.
Functionality and depth
15% of scoreAgainst what a point of sale has to do, the suite is complete and then some. Application intake, document processing, real-time pricing and borrower engagement are all there. Nexus Closing handles hybrid eClosings. Nexus Vision reports. CompenSafe runs loan officer incentive compensation, which nothing else here touches. Doc Validation classifies documents and fills fields, and it is shipping rather than announced. Configurability is the one place BeSmartee and Lodasoft still go deeper.
Integrations and ecosystem
20% of scoreFreddie Mac AIM and dual automated underwriting are named. The platform is deployed over whatever LOS the lender already runs, with native integrations to Encompass, Calyx and Finastra MortgagebotLOS. That is why a lender can layer this over an existing origination system instead of replacing it. The odd part is the point of sale page, which claims leading LOS integrations without identifying one. If nCino’s own mortgage LOS is the intended destination, that is a question worth asking directly. Get your connection written into the contract.
Adoption and support
20% of scoreMobile-native design is still the difference. Loan officers use it because it works from a phone, not because they were told to, and that is the SimpleNexus inheritance. It is also why this sits near the top of the category on the number that decides whether a purchase survives. Two counterweights are real: post-acquisition complaints show up often enough on Capterra to test with current customers, and support and documentation are still split across two brand names.
Return on spend
10% of scoreAn institution already running nCino across commercial and consumer lending adds mortgage cheaply, and the platform economics work there. For everyone else this is enterprise pricing against one line of business. Nothing is published, and the modular structure means the quote depends entirely on which Nexus components you take. The published return figures are vendor-modeled rather than audited. Capable product, unknowable price, and that combination is what holds the number down.
On price. Not published. nCino is a listed company contracting at enterprise scale. Expect multi-year terms with implementation and professional services quoted separately. A mortgage-only buyer should benchmark the quote against Maxwell and BeSmartee first.
