nCino Mortgage POS wins 4 of 5 axes. Same rubric, same weights, no sponsorships.
Two products, opposite paths after acquisition
SimpleNexus no longer exists as a brand. Type simplenexus.com and the server returns a 302 redirect to an nCino mortgage page. nCino bought the company in January 2022 and retired the name in September 2023. The product now ships inside the nCino Mortgage Suite.
Cloudvirga went the other way. Stewart Information Services bought it in May 2021 on undisclosed terms. Cloudvirga still runs its own site, its own brand and its own chief executive, Maria Moskver. Its press releases name it a Stewart subsidiary.
What each one is built to do
nCino describes a mobile-native point of sale joined to analytics and loan officer compensation. The stated aim is removing handoffs, document chasing and system switching between stages. Named components include Doc Validation, Mortgage Advisor, eClose and Incentive Compensation.
Cloudvirga sells Horizon POS in retail and wholesale versions, plus a product called Tropos. Its own language centres on automating work usually done in the back office. That is a fulfillment cost argument, not a borrower experience argument. The two attack different halves of your cost per funded loan.
LOS coverage, where the two disagree
Cloudvirga names exactly one LOS on its partners page. That is ICE Mortgage Technology’s Encompass. It has also announced a migration of Horizon Retail POS onto Encompass Partner Connect. MeridianLink, Empower and Byte do not appear on that page.
The nCino point of sale page names no LOS at all. It refers only to LOS integrations with real-time data sync. Software directories list Calyx Point and MeridianLink Mortgage instead. A status monitor tracks nCino Mortgage components labelled Encompass and Calyx Point. That is indirect evidence, not a published list. Ask for one in writing before signing.
Pricing, which neither puts on a page
Neither vendor publishes a price. The nCino Capterra listing says contact vendor, with no free trial and no free version. Cloudvirga publishes no figure on its own site.
Ask both for cost per funded loan at your real volume, not list price per seat. Ask for the implementation fee as a separate line. Ask for the annual minimum, and what happens if volume falls 30 percent.
Reviews and outage records, unevenly matched
Review depth is lopsided. The nCino Mortgage Suite carries 4.8 out of 5 across 126 Capterra reviews, and 4.9 across 95 on G2. Cloudvirga Enterprise POS shows 5.0 on G2 from a single review. One review is not a signal, and Cloudvirga should be asked for references. Request three at your loan volume and channel.
nCino runs a public status page listing 88 components, with mortgage broken out by region. It shows a seven day grid and no uptime percentage. A third-party monitor logged more than 99 SimpleNexus outages since May 2023 across 40 components. One knowledge base component sat down for nearly 60 days from March 2026. No public Cloudvirga status page could be found. That is a gap for a system that gates applications.
Vendor numbers with no method attached
Both sides publish figures without showing the work. nCino claims up to a 66 percent cut in time to close with eClose. It claims income verification coverage rising from 47 percent to above 70 percent. Cloudvirga claims fulfillment costs below an industry average of $2,600. It shows cycle time falling from 36 days to a few days. Every one of these is vendor stated and unverified.
Neither publishes application completion rates by channel. Both quote pull-through gains without a control group. Make the reference calls do that work.
Which one to pick
An independent mortgage bank on Encompass chasing fulfillment cost should shortlist Cloudvirga. The back office automation pitch maps onto that buyer’s cost per funded loan. A bank or credit union wanting one vendor across banking and mortgage should shortlist nCino. Compensation and analytics arrive in the same contract, which cuts vendor count.
Ask nCino for a written list of certified LOS integrations and the support tier for each. Ask Cloudvirga for 12 months of uptime history in writing, with incident durations included.
