FICS review
FICS is a Loan Origination product. MortgageTechReview scores FICS 2.7 out of 5.0, ranking FICS #29 of the 32 products tracked in Loan Origination Software, as of August 11, 2026. Scores on MortgageTechReview are weighted across five axes and are never paid for or influenced by a vendor relationship.
FICS is the portfolio lender's option, selling mortgage software from Addison, Texas since 1983. Loan Producer and Mortgage Servicer share data directly, so a loan boards without rekeying. It runs on-premise or in any cloud you choose, including AWS or Azure, which is now rare. The decision is whether you keep servicing. If you do, the two-product package argues hard; if you sell servicing released, the case collapses. The limit is an integration surface that names only a handful of partners and offers no marketplace.

Where it wins
- Runs in-house or on any hosting you pick, including AWS or Azure
- Loan Producer feeds FICS Mortgage Servicer directly, so portfolio lenders skip rekeying
- Origination reaches secondary marketing, with MISMO delivery to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac
- Operating since 1983, with training, consulting, conversion and programming teams staffed
Where it falls short
- Published integration list names only a handful of partners, with no marketplace
- No pricing on the site, and no customer counts or throughput data either
- Windows-era interface, so cross-hires from newer systems need retraining
- Ownership is not disclosed
Why it scores 2.7
Scored on the Loan Origination Systems weight profile. The number shows where it sits in this category. It rests on evidence anyone can check, including the vendor's own record. The weights →
Production impact
25% of scoreLoan Producer runs application through closing and on to secondary delivery. Its main lever is killing rekeying between origination and FICS’ own servicing system. That matters if you keep loans. It matters far less if you sell everything servicing released. No throughput benchmarks are published, so the cycle time case rests on data continuity, not measured results.
Functionality and depth
20% of scoreAs an LOS, Loan Producer covers more ground than a basic pipeline tool. Origination reaches secondary marketing, with MISMO file delivery to the agencies. Browser components add online intake and status work: LoanProducer.com, LPOnline, eStatus Connect and LoanStat. The wider FICS suite also carries Mortgage Servicer, Commercial Servicer, Loan Accountant and Mortgage Accountant.
Integrations and ecosystem
25% of scoreThe named list on FICS’ own page is short: DU, LPA, Wolters Kluwer’s VMP documents, QuestSoft compliance tools, MERS. There is no partner marketplace and no published API catalog for the origination side. The servicing and commercial products each expose an API. Adoption and support
20% of scoreFICS sells training, consulting, conversions and custom programming as separate services. That says the product expects configuration effort, and that the vendor staffs for it. The customer base skews long-tenured, and the company has run from the same Texas base for four decades. The screens are not browser-first, so teams hired from Encompass shops need retraining.
Return on spend
10% of scoreCustomers run it in-house or pick any hosting provider, so cost is not locked to a vendor cloud margin. One license across origination and servicing removes a second vendor relationship and a second conversion project. Conversion work and custom programming bill separately, so the first-year number is not the license number.
On price. Nothing is published. FICS quotes per institution. The deal’s shape depends on which products you take and whether you host it yourself.
