SharperLending review
SharperLending is a Income & Asset Verification product from Xactus, through the January 2021 UniversalCIS acquisition. MortgageTechReview scores SharperLending 2.2 out of 5.0, ranking SharperLending #30 of the 35 products tracked in Income & Asset Verification Software, as of August 11, 2026. Scores on MortgageTechReview are weighted across five axes and are never paid for or influenced by a vendor relationship.
SharperLending is a long-running suite of lender tools that has sat inside Xactus since UniversalCIS bought it in January 2021. The catalogue still sells under its own name, from Appraisal Firewall X through XpertOnline, TVP, ReadyQual and EPN. Appraisal management is why lenders come, and Appraisal Firewall delivers straight to UCDP and FHA EAD. The pitch is managing your own appraiser panel instead of paying AMC margin. The brand is being absorbed: the Appraisal Firewall corporate site now carries a XedaLink copyright and points at Xactus. SharperLending wins 0 of 5 axes against Model Match, on the weight profile published for this category. Full head-to-head →
Where it wins
- Appraisal Firewall X delivers straight to UCDP and FHA EAD from one tool
- Supports an in-house appraiser panel, which is where the AMC saving comes from
- AF ScoreCard automates appraisal review, with Verisite covering mobile property inspection
- Xactus ownership puts credit and verification data behind the same group
Where it falls short
- No LOS partner named on the SharperLending or Appraisal Firewall sites
- Appraisal Firewall site shows a XedaLink copyright; ownership visibly in transition
- ReadyQual, TVP, EPN and XpertOnline pages are thin, secondary lines at best
- No pricing published, and no contract terms either
Why it scores 2.2
Scored on the Verification & Data weight profile. The number shows where it sits in this category. It rests on evidence anyone can check, including the vendor's own record. The weights →
Production impact
25% of scoreThe gain is confined to appraisal turn time. Ordering, AF ScoreCard review and delivery to UCDP and FHA EAD in one tool remove the portal-hopping that costs an appraisal desk hours per file. That is one desk, not the file. Nothing outside appraisal moves. SharperLending publishes no cycle time or volume data of its own, so even that effect is inferred from what the workflow removes rather than demonstrated.
Functionality and depth
20% of scoreAppraisal Firewall X, AF ScoreCard and Verisite inspection are the substance. Everything else is a front end. XpertOnline covers credit access, TVP income verification, ReadyQual prequalification pulls and EPN settlement ordering, and each gets a paragraph that reads like order entry. None would be bought on its own merits. A wide catalogue where one line carries all the weight is a narrow product wearing a suite’s name.
Integrations and ecosystem
20% of scoreTwo connections are named and checkable: UCDP and FHA EAD. For an appraisal tool those matter most, and they are the only ones you get. The corporate site claims LOS and AMC connections without naming a single one. So the path from your origination system to this appraisal desk is a diligence question rather than a published fact, and the smaller modules have no documented path at all.
Adoption and support
10% of scoreThe appraisal desk tools are browser based and long settled in the field, so training cost stays low. The risk is organisational. The brand is being absorbed: the Appraisal Firewall site carries a XedaLink copyright and points at Xactus, while the catalogue still sells under the SharperLending name. Establish which entity holds the contract, who owns escalations, and what happens to ReadyQual, TVP and EPN. None of that is public.
Return on spend
25% of scoreThe business case is the AMC margin you stop paying by running your own appraiser panel. For a lender with steady purchase volume that arithmetic is simple. Against it sit no published rates, no contract terms, and the cost of managing panel compliance with your own staff. Payback cannot be modeled before you talk to sales, and you would be underwriting a product mid-rebrand while you do it.
On price. Nothing is published. No rate card appears, and no tiers or minimums either. Quotes come through the Xactus sales relationship. Ask whether SharperLending products sell separately from a wider Xactus credit and verification contract.
