Halcyon review
Halcyon is a Income & Asset Verification product. MortgageTechReview scores Halcyon 3.5 out of 5.0, ranking Halcyon #15 of the 35 products tracked in Income & Asset Verification Software, as of August 11, 2026. Scores on MortgageTechReview are weighted across five axes and are never paid for or influenced by a vendor relationship.
Halcyon sells direct IRS data access plus the calculations built on it. TrueTax pulls transcripts through an IRS-direct path, and TrueCalc turns returns into a self-employed income figure. TrueMark and TrueYou handle signature and identity around the request. Buy it where transcript turnaround and self-employed income math stall underwriting, from agency work to non-QM and bank statement lending. The integration list decides it, because it is longer and more specific than most vendors this size publish. The catch: ownership and funding are undisclosed, so you cannot check the supplier's stability from public sources.

Where it wins
- Names Encompass, MeridianLink, Finastra, Dark Matter, Byte, Vesta, Xpanse and TRK outright
- TrueCalc ties into the Fannie Mae Income Calculator, an agency-recognized calculation
- Covers the full transcript chain, from signature and identity through income calculation
- Serves mortgage plus student and SBA lending, so the IRS pathway gets exercised
Where it falls short
- No ownership, parent company or funding information published anywhere
- Turnaround is claimed as fast but never quantified
- TrueReport and the Kingfisher advisory program sit outside lending and dilute focus
- No pricing, per-transcript cost or volume tier disclosed
Why it scores 3.5
Scored on the Verification & Data weight profile. The number shows where it sits in this category. It rests on evidence anyone can check, including the vendor's own record. The weights →
Production impact
25% of scoreHalcyon hits two reliable stall points in one chain. Transcript delay stalls the underwriting queue, and self-employed income math drives rework. Fixing both at once is where the gain sits. The score stays under four because no turnaround or throughput figures are published. No lender results appear either, so the size of the gain is asserted, not proven.
Functionality and depth
20% of scoreTrueTax and TrueCalc are the pair that matter, and they complete each other. Retrieval without calculation still leaves an underwriter reading returns by hand. TrueMark and TrueYou cover signature and identity, so a request does not die on a bad authorization. The catalog also carries lead generation and advisory products such as Kingfisher, which sit outside this category.
Integrations and ecosystem
20% of scoreThe integration list is the strongest evidence Halcyon publishes. Encompass, MeridianLink, Finastra, Dark Matter, Byte, Vesta, Xpanse and TRK are named outright. That covers a good share of where mortgage and consumer files actually live. TrueCalc ties into the Fannie Mae Income Calculator. Relationships with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, TMC and Lenders One are listed too. Depth per connection is not published, so confirm whether yours writes results back or just launches a request.
Adoption and support
10% of scoreThe change is procedural, not conceptual, because operations teams already order transcripts. Delivery inside the origination system keeps training light. The unknowns all sit on the vendor side. No implementation timeline and no support commitments are published, and customer references are absent. For a supplier this small, insist on referenceable lenders running your origination system.
Return on spend
25% of scorePer-transcript economics compare cleanly against your current IRS Income Verification Express Service provider. That makes this an easier buy than most in the category. Upside concentrates in files needing self-employed income calculation, where the labor saved is large. For a book of salaried W-2 borrowers, the case is much weaker.
On price. Not published. Every route on the site ends at a demo request, with no per-transcript figure and no volume tier. The category prices per pull, so insist on a per-transcript rate. Price failed and unmatched requests too. Those line items move the annual total more than the headline rate.
