Optimal Blue wins 5 of 5 axes. Same rubric, same weights, no sponsorships.

Two capital markets platforms, two funding models

Both vendors sell past the pricing screen. Optimal Blue pairs its engine with hedging, trading, MSR valuation and compliance oversight. Polly pairs its engine with a hedge-agnostic Loan Trading Exchange and an analytics layer.

Maturity against pace is the split. Optimal Blue is a Constellation Software holding with a long installed base. Polly was founded in 2019 in San Francisco and is still buying share with venture money.

Scale claims, and how much method sits behind them

Optimal Blue’s engine page cites more than 150 investors and 99.5% pricing accuracy. An August 2026 release put its lock data above 35% of mortgages locked nationwide. June 2024 reporting put annual lock and trade volume at $1.1 trillion across more than 3,500 lenders.

Polly publishes far less. Its engine page cites hundreds of investors without a count. A September 2024 funding release said lock volume grew well over 150% that year. The customer base more than doubled. Percentages without a base are hard to size. All of these are vendor stated and unverified.

The Tennessee price-fixing complaint against Optimal Blue

Borrowers filed Mendez v. Optimal Blue, LLC on 3 October 2025. The venue is the Middle District of Tennessee, docket 3:25-cv-01140. Twenty-six lender defendants were named with the vendor, among them Rocket, UWM, Wells Fargo and Citibank.

The complaint targets Competitive Analytics and the Competitive Data License, both from 2019. Plaintiffs say those tools let originators coordinate price. They cite 2.68 basis points of extra spread against non-users. They also cite 9.6 basis points against the lenders’ own earlier pricing. The suit seeks damages and permanent injunctive relief.

Optimal Blue disputes the allegations. The matter is unresolved. Polly faces no comparable reported action.

Integrations, and what Polly leaves off its own pages

Optimal Blue names more than 70 partners in a public directory. LOS entries include ICE Mortgage Technology, Dark Matter, Calyx, Byte, Mortgage Cadence, LendingPad and Vesta. CRM entries include Total Expert, Surefire, Jungo and Volly.

Polly announces integrations one at a time. Dark Matter embedded Polly’s PPE in Empower in October 2025. Vesta and LendingPad landed in March 2025, alongside Cordless and Uplist. Polly’s engine page names no LOS partner at all.

There is no public Polly integration directory. Ask for a written list with certification dates before signing.

Money behind each vendor

Constellation paid $700 million for Optimal Blue in a deal announced in September 2023. Paceline Equity Partners took the $500 million note in February 2024. Constellation holds software assets for the long term.

Polly raised $25 million in September 2024, led by 8VC. Menlo Ventures, Meritech, Khosla Ventures and Fifth Wall joined. Its site also lists Base10, NYCA, Conversion Capital and Fin Capital. Venture backing means a further raise or a sale stays possible.

AI features each vendor says are shipping

Optimal Blue released Virtual Economist and opened AI Labs in August 2026. The company says twelve AI products ship at no extra cost to clients. Kevin Foley directs the lab, and Erin Wester is chief product officer.

Polly launched Polly/AI in May 2024, with New American Funding and Movement Mortgage in closed beta. A May 2025 release added mobile capability and more automation. Both roadmaps are vendor described, with no independent benchmark.

What neither publishes about price

Neither vendor posts enterprise pricing. Optimal Blue’s single public figure is $79 per month for Loansifter, its broker engine. Polly posts nothing.

Push both on cost per lock at your volume. Ask what happens if lock counts drop by half. Ask which analytics and AI modules sit outside the base fee.

Which one to pick

A large lender with a live hedge, a deep investor set and a heavy compliance load fits Optimal Blue. Breadth and installed base carry real switching value.

A lender chasing configuration control and a modern loan sale workflow should shortlist Polly. Smaller IMBs and credit unions are the profile its case material describes.

Ask Optimal Blue whether the modules named in the Tennessee complaint would sit on your contract. Ask Polly for a named investor count and a written LOS certification list.
