Optimal Blue wins 3 of 5 axes. Same rubric, same weights, no sponsorships.
What each engine is actually sold to do
Optimal Blue sells a capital markets stack, not a standalone pricing screen. The product and pricing engine sits beside hedging, trading, MSR valuation and Comergence compliance oversight. Its site frames the platform around pricing accuracy and margin protection.
Lender Price sells a pricing engine it describes as cloud native and AI driven. The line covers retail, wholesale and correspondent channels. FLEX handles non-QM, CorrX handles correspondent, and an assistant named AILA answers questions.
Scope is the split. Optimal Blue wants the lock desk and the hedge together. Lender Price prices and locks, then hands off.
Ownership, and what it does to the roadmap
Optimal Blue was divested from Black Knight to clear the ICE merger. Constellation Software’s Perseus Group agreed to buy it in September 2023 for $700 million. That was $200 million cash plus a $500 million note. Paceline Equity Partners bought the note in February 2024.
Constellation buys software to hold it. Roadmaps move in increments, and resale risk is low. Joe Tyrrell became chief executive in June 2024, after interim chief Scott Smith.
Lender Price is a product of Cre8tech Labs. Co-founder Dawar Alimi is now chief executive. No funding total or ownership split appears on the site.
The antitrust case a buyer should read before signing
Four borrower plaintiffs sued Optimal Blue on 3 October 2025 in Nashville federal court. The caption is Mendez v. Optimal Blue, LLC, docket 3:25-cv-01140, Middle District of Tennessee. Twenty-six lender defendants were named with the vendor, including Rocket, UWM, Wells Fargo and PennyMac.
Competitive Analytics and the Competitive Data License, both released in 2019, are the target. Plaintiffs allege the tools let originators coordinate pricing instead of competing. They put the gap at 2.68 basis points of extra rate spread against non-users. A further 9.6 basis points compares those lenders to their own pre-platform pricing.
Optimal Blue disagrees and expects to show its products aid competition. No ruling has been reported. Ask whether your shop would be licensed for the named modules.
Investor breadth and where the volume sits
Optimal Blue’s engine page cites more than 150 investors and 99.5% pricing accuracy. An August 2026 release put its lock data at more than 35% of mortgages locked nationwide.
Lender Price states more than $300 billion in locked volume, over 400 customers and more than 130,000 loan products. None of those figures carry a published method. Treat them as vendor stated and unverified.
Integration reach, and what each list leaves out
Optimal Blue publishes a directory naming more than 70 partners. The LOS column includes ICE Mortgage Technology, Dark Matter, Calyx, Byte, MortgageFlex, Mortgage Cadence, LendingPad and Vesta. CRM names include Total Expert, Surefire and Jungo. Point of sale covers Blend, nCino, Floify and Maxwell.
Lender Price publishes no equivalent directory. Its Encompass integration dates to a 2018 announcement, and a July 2026 release added Addy AI. Request a written integration list with certification dates and support tiers.
What each vendor publishes about price
Neither posts enterprise pricing. Optimal Blue does publish one figure: Loansifter starts at $79 per month for brokers. That says nothing about a lender contract.
Ask both for cost per lock at your volume, not a platform fee. Ask what happens when lock volume falls 40%. Ask whether analytics, mobile access and API calls sit inside the base fee.
Which one to pick
A mid-size or large IMB running its own hedge will find Optimal Blue’s breadth hard to replicate. Investor depth, MI quoting and lock automation arrive in one contract. The antitrust exposure is a question for counsel, not a veto.
A bank, credit union or non-QM shop fits Lender Price better. It gives pricing control without a full capital markets suite. Configuration is the pitch, and the marketplace channel helps broker-facing lenders.
Ask Optimal Blue which modules named in the Tennessee complaint would appear on your order form. Ask Lender Price for three references at your channel mix and lock volume, with contract start dates.
