Argyle wins 3 of 5 axes. Same rubric, same weights, no sponsorships.
These two do not compete for the same budget line
Argyle sells verification of income, employment and assets. CreditXpert sells credit score simulation and borrower improvement plans. One cuts verification cost and cycle time. The other tries to move a score before an application dies. A lender can buy both and see no functional overlap. Argyle bills against a verification line item. CreditXpert bills against a conversion line item. Confusing the two wastes a procurement cycle.
Argyle sells a payroll connection, CreditXpert sells a score path
Argyle connects a borrower to payroll and bank accounts. It returns pay history, employment status and transaction data. CreditXpert reads the tri merge that a lender has already pulled. It then simulates which borrower actions raise the score, and by how much. Nothing in CreditXpert verifies income. Nothing in Argyle changes a credit score. Argyle also returns up to 24 months of bank transaction history. CreditXpert produces a borrower action plan with tracked progress and reminders.
Coverage claims against score claims
Argyle publishes 90 percent of the American workforce and more than 220 million consumers. It counts more than 1.7 million employers and more than 570 payroll and gig platforms. It publishes net conversion above 55 percent and defines the metric. CreditXpert says 70 percent of applicants can gain 20 points within 30 days. The same claim appears as 73 percent elsewhere on its site. Both vendors state these numbers with no published method behind them. Argyle reported more than one million verifications in a single quarter of 2026. CreditXpert says it analyzes more than 75,000 credit pulls each day. Argyle also reported mortgage customer growth above 160 percent year over year. CreditXpert says 1,500 or more mortgage originators sit on the platform.
What each publishes on price
CreditXpert publishes a Quick Start plan at 28 dollars per plan, for up to 20 seats. Its Mid Size and Enterprise pricing is custom. Argyle publishes no price. It describes usage based billing and routes buyers to sales. Ask Argyle for cost per successful verification at your real monthly volume. Ask CreditXpert whether a plan is billed per borrower, per pull or per month. Argyle cites The Work Number at 66 dollars per transaction as its comparison point.
How each reaches the loan officer
Argyle names Encompass, nCino, Consumer Connect, Tidalwave, Floify, Empower and Byte. It expanded its Encompass work in March 2025 through Consumer Connect. CreditXpert names no loan origination integration on its site. It reaches lenders through credit report providers instead. Advantage Credit, Alliance 2020, CoreLogic Credco, Covius and DataFacts are named. Informative Research also resells Wayfinder and Credit Assure to its own clients. So a lender may already hold CreditXpert access through a credit vendor contract. CreditXpert says it sells to licensed mortgage lenders only.
Funding and ownership, one trail and one blank
Argyle raised a 30 million dollar Series C in March 2024. The Fintech Innovation Fund at Rockefeller Asset Management led that round. Bain Capital Ventures, SignalFire and Checkr joined it. An extension followed in September 2025, adding Mastercard, with no amount disclosed. CreditXpert publishes no investor, parent or funding detail. It lists a Baltimore headquarters and a named executive bench.
Compliance sits in different places
Argyle states it is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. It says its practices align with those requirements anyway. It also holds PBSA accreditation. CreditXpert works on credit data a lender already pulled under permissible purpose. Its site publishes no FCRA position of its own. Neither vendor publishes a plain permissible purpose summary for buyers. Ask each vendor for that answer in writing.
Which one to pick
For an operations team cutting verification spend, Argyle is the purchase that pays back. For a retail team losing applications at score cutoffs, CreditXpert targets pull-through. Buying one instead of the other solves only half the problem. Ask Argyle for net conversion by lender segment, with the denominator shown. Ask CreditXpert for the eligible file definition sitting behind the 20 point claim.
