BeSmartee wins 4 of 5 axes. Same rubric, same weights, no sponsorships.

Founder owned since 2007 against Stewart owned since 2021

BeSmartee was founded in 2007 by Tim Nguyen and Veronica Nguyen. It is private and independent, with no parent or investor disclosed on its own site. Development started in 2014 and the platform went live in 2016. The founders still hold the chief executive and executive vice president roles.

Cloudvirga is owned by Stewart Information Services Corporation, the title insurer. Stewart’s subsidiary exhibit at 31 December 2025 lists CloudVirga, Inc. as a Delaware entity. Cloudvirga’s press boilerplate confirms the same. Older pages on cloudvirga.com still describe an independent founder team, and buyers repeat that error constantly.

Integration breadth is the clearest split

BeSmartee publishes partner pages naming MeridianLink, ICE Mortgage Technology, Byte Software and Mortgage Builder. Black Knight, Finastra, Jack Henry, Hawthorn River and Baker Hill follow. Bank and credit union cores appear alongside mortgage LOS platforms. That matters if one institution runs both mortgage and commercial lending.

Cloudvirga names Encompass and stops there. Its 2025 releases cover Encompass Partner Connect, Encompass Docs Solution and ICE product and pricing. If your LOS is not Encompass, Cloudvirga is a build rather than an install. Price that engineering time into the first year.

Two roadmaps heading in different directions

BeSmartee’s public changelog shows where engineering effort is going. Its four most recent entries, dated 9 July to 7 August 2026, all cover FlashSpread. FlashSpread handles commercial financial spreading, not the mortgage portal. Bright POS does not appear anywhere in that recent run.

Cloudvirga shipped mortgage specific work through 2025. Tropos launched in May, a Tropos admin portal in August, and Loan Hub in November. Stewart Valuation Intelligence appraisal ordering was wired into Horizon in October 2025. On public evidence, the mortgage roadmap has been more active.

No price on either side, and what to demand instead

Neither company publishes a price. BeSmartee has no pricing page anywhere in its sitemap. Cloudvirga publishes nothing, and G2 records that the vendor has not listed pricing or plan availability. Comparing these two on cost requires two written quotes and nothing less. Budget four to six weeks for that procurement cycle.

Ask both for cost per funded loan at your real monthly volume, not list rate. Ask for the implementation fee, the minimum term, the seat minimum and the renewal uplift cap. Get integration build costs quoted as a separate line.

The evidence a buyer can actually verify

The public review trail is thin on both sides. BeSmartee Mortgage POS holds 4.8 out of 5 from two G2 reviews. Cloudvirga Enterprise POS holds 5.0 from a single G2 review. Neither has a Capterra listing. Neither carries TrustRadius reviews.

BeSmartee’s case studies for three named lenders are still marked coming soon. Its testimonial claiming applications finished in as little as 10 minutes is vendor stated and unverified. Ask each vendor for three references matching your LOS, channel and monthly unit count.

What to write into the contract, because neither publishes it

Neither vendor runs a public status page. BeSmartee’s security page cites SOC 2 Type II and a business continuity plan, with no uptime percentage. Cloudvirga publishes neither a status page nor an availability target. Absence of incident history is not evidence of reliability.

Require a monthly uptime percentage with service credits that actually bite. Require an incident notification window in hours and a named escalation path. Add a data export clause covering documents and application data in a usable format.

Which one to pick

A community bank or credit union on Jack Henry, Finastra, Baker Hill or Byte should shortlist BeSmartee. The integration work already exists, and commercial lending sits on the same vendor. A large retail mortgage lender standardised on Encompass should shortlist Cloudvirga. The case is stronger again if Stewart already handles title and valuation.

Ask BeSmartee how much Bright POS development shipped in the past two quarters, by release. Ask Cloudvirga whether Stewart title and valuation services are contractually bundled, or genuinely optional at renewal.

This score rests on evidence anyone can check. It also rests on the vendor's own documentation, pricing, integration pages, and ownership records. We do not claim to run every product ourselves. Nobody can. The rubric was published before this review existed. The vendor did not write this, and no vendor can buy a word of it. Every product in this category is weighted the same way.
