Why these two land on the same shortlist
Lenders shopping eClosing routinely put DocMagic and Snapdocs side by side. Both appear on Fannie Mae’s eMortgage partner list with eNote, eClose and eVault capability. The split shows up upstream of the signing room. DocMagic builds the document package. Snapdocs takes a package built elsewhere and runs the closing event.
Snapdocs states it supports one in four United States mortgage transactions. DocMagic states 38 years in the business and clients in all 50 states. Both claims are vendor stated with no published method.
Where the documents come from
DocMagic generates disclosures and closing packages from its own engine. Its AutoPrep tool pulls externally prepared documents into the same eClosing flow. Snapdocs does not generate documents at all. It consumes them and connects to your LOS and POS. That single fact decides most deals. A lender committed to another doc engine can add Snapdocs without ripping it out.
eNote, eVault and the registry
Both operate eVaults wired to the MERS eRegistry. DocMagic pairs SmartSAFE with SmartREGISTRY for registration, transfer and status tracking. It publishes MISMO certifications covering eClosing, RON and eVault. Snapdocs says its eVault met MISMO eVault System Standards in February 2025. It cites MISMO eClosing certification in 2022 and RON certification in 2020.
Snapdocs puts its share of eNote originations at one in six, which is vendor stated. AmeriHome Correspondent adopted the Snapdocs eVault for eNote acceptance in April 2025. Registry data cited by DocMagic shows more than 2.7 million unique eNotes as of September 2025.
Settlement agent adoption drives your exception rate
Snapdocs sells the network as the product. It claims a 98 percent settlement agent opt-in rate across wet, hybrid, eNote and RON closings. DocMagic added in person electronic notarization to Total eClose in November 2025. Its material states IPEN is permitted in 46 states and the District of Columbia. Ask both for opt-in rates inside your actual title footprint. A national average will not predict what your agents do.
Snapdocs says borrowers can finish signing in under 15 minutes. That figure carries no published method.
The savings numbers each side publishes
Snapdocs claims up to $500 saved per loan, 80 percent fewer closing errors and eight days faster to close. DocMagic cites a case study showing $150 saved on every loan. None of these carry published method, sample size or date range. Treat all of them as vendor stated and unverified.
Snapdocs also sells a quality control product for file review. It claims an 85 percent cut in QC time and 60 percent more staff capacity. DocMagic covers similar ground through compliance auditing built into document generation.
Integrations each one names in public
Snapdocs names Encompass, Empower by Dark Matter, MeridianLink Consumer, Vesta, Mortgage Cadence, Byte and Finastra MortgageBot. Its point of sale list covers Maxwell, BeSmartee, LenderLogix and Tidalwave. Title production covers Resware, RamQuest and SoftPro. DocMagic names Encompass, Dark Matter, MeridianLink, Byte, Calyx, Finastra, Fiserv, Integra, LendingPad, Vesta and Wilqo. DocMagic publishes no title production software list.
Pricing and review depth are both thin
Neither vendor publishes a price. Ask for cost per closing at your volume, split by doc prep, eSign, notary session, eVault storage and registry transfers. Ask whether hybrid and full eClose price differently. Public review counts are too small to decide on. DocMagic shows 4.0 from three reviews on G2. The Snapdocs eClosing listing shows 4.6 from 28 reviews. Its Capterra listing shows 5.0 from three reviews, with no starting price and no free trial.
Which one to pick
A lender wanting document generation, compliance testing and eClosing on one contract should choose DocMagic. A lender keeping its existing doc engine and buying closing execution should choose Snapdocs. Ask DocMagic what DocMagic One changes for current users, since it shipped in September 2025 at no added cost. Ask Snapdocs for opt-in rates among the specific title firms you close with most.
