Plunk review

Plunk · home.ai, per Plunk's own about page Appraisal & Valuation Reviewed www.getplunk.com ↗
In short

Plunk is a Appraisal Management product from home.ai, per Plunk's own about page. MortgageTechReview scores Plunk 2.0 out of 5.0, ranking Plunk #21 of the 21 products tracked in Appraisal Management Software, as of August 11, 2026. Scores on MortgageTechReview are weighted across five axes and are never paid for or influenced by a vendor relationship.

The verdict

Plunk built a continuously updating valuation model covering, by its own count, more than 104 million US homes. Separate products estimate what a renovation would do to a property's value. It is aimed at analysts and agents, not appraisal desks, and reaches lenders through an API only. Corporate status decides this one. Plunk's own about page says the home.ai acquisition completed in Q3 2024, while news stops in November 2023. Confirm the product is still sold and supported before scoping anything around it, because nothing public establishes that.

Plunk wins 0 of 5 axes against Clear Capital, on the weight profile published for this category. Full head-to-head →

Where it wins

  • Home Value, Refined Value, Remodel Value and Home Compare model renovation upside separately
  • Coverage is stated at 104 million plus US homes with continuous updating
  • API-first delivery sits behind existing tools without a user-facing rollout
  • Backers included Second Century Ventures and the California Association of Realtors

Where it falls short

  • Its own site reports a Q3 2024 home.ai acquisition; news stopped November 2023
  • No mortgage system connection is named, not Encompass, not any appraisal platform
  • No published accuracy testing, no confidence metric, no forecast deviation, no GSE acceptance evidence
  • Written for agents and homeowners, so lenders buy outside its centre of gravity

Why it scores 2.0

Scored on the Appraisal & Valuation weight profile. The number shows where it sits in this category. It rests on evidence anyone can check, including the vendor's own record. The weights →

1.8

Production impact

30% of score

Nothing public ties Plunk to loan volume or cycle time at any lender. Its named partnerships sit on the agent side, RealReports and SentriLock among them, and the one mortgage reference is an advisory appointment from October 2023 rather than a deployment. A live valuation feed could serve portfolio monitoring or home equity marketing. Could. There is still no lender using it in public, and that absence is the finding.

2.6

Functionality and depth

15% of score

The valuation products go past a plain feed. Home Value covers a stated 104 million properties, Refined Value lets a user correct interior facts, Remodel Value estimates project upside and Value Drivers explains what moves the number. For a lender the apparatus around that is missing: no confidence scoring, no published accuracy testing, no ordering or review layer, no compliance function. It was written for agents and homeowners, and it shows.

1.8

Integrations and ecosystem

15% of score

Plunk ships as an API and a web application and names no connection to any origination system, appraisal platform or ordering network. What it does list, RealReports and Xome plus Local Logic, are agent and consumer tools. For a lender that means every use starts as an engineering project, with no vendor-side precedent to follow and nobody to ask how it was done before.

2.3

Adoption and support

15% of score

The Plunk Pro application is straightforward and the API is presented as self-service. That is the easy part. The hard part is that the news feed ends in November 2023, the footer still reads 2023, and the company’s own about page describes a home.ai acquisition completing in Q3 2024. Nothing public tells you who answers a support ticket today. Treat onboarding and service levels as unverified.

1.8

Return on spend

25% of score

No rate is published, so the price is unknown. That is not the real exposure. The exposure is continuity: an acquired product whose public presence stopped in 2023 is a poor base for anything you run in production, and a valuation feed is only worth what its upkeep is worth. Confirm the product is still actively sold and supported before spending anything on it.

On price. Nothing is published. No tiers or per-call rates appear on the site, and no volume bands either. Given the acquisition, any quote should come from home.ai rather than from historical Plunk material.
