TRUE wins 3 of 5 axes. Same rubric, same weights, no sponsorships.
Extraction against warranted decisions
TRUE turns loan documents into structured, validated data. Candor takes data and renders an underwriting decision that it warrants. One reduces keystrokes and the other reduces repurchase exposure.
TRUE sums up its pitch as clean loan files, fewer touches and lower cost per loan. Candor sells an underwriting engine and a defect warranty on its output. These are complementary jobs, and the two companies have acted on that.
They already work together
In October 2025 the two firms launched Instant Income Clarity. TRUE supplies autonomous data processing and Candor supplies the decisioning engine. It pushes verified income analysis upstream to loan officers. Covered types include W-2, self-employed, commission, rental and retirement income. A claimed 4x productivity gain came with the launch and no method.
In March 2026 TRUE described the tie-up as pairing document intelligence with underwriting decisioning. Candor appears on the TRUE partner wall. Ask how the joint product is priced and supported.
The warranty, and who backs it
This is the item that separates Candor from every document tool, so read it closely. The Candor site says decisions carry a Lloyd’s of London rep-and-warrant defect policy covering data, conditions and income. An October 2024 release described a warranty on income calculations and cleared conditions for funded FHA loans. That release put the backing with an AAA-rated insurer for up to 60 months after closing. A June 2026 release repeated the AAA-rated insurer wording.
No carrier is named. No limit, deductible, exclusion list or claims procedure is published anywhere fetched. Candor cites 600K+ funded loans with zero repurchases and a 100 percent claim defense record. It separately cites more than three million underwrites with zero repurchases. Those two denominators measure different things. TRUE offers no warranty of any kind on its output.
Published figures on both sides
TRUE publishes 90 percent or better straight-through processing. It claims under three minutes to income analysis and under five to trusted file data. It also claims 4x post-close productivity and setup time falling from days to hours.
Candor publishes under one minute to pre-approval and under 15 minutes to credit approval. It claims ten days off cycle time and 12 basis points less repurchase exposure. Pull-through gain is put above 15 percent and underwriter productivity at 3x to 5x. Its June 2026 Argyle release promised decisions often in under 60 seconds. Neither vendor shows a method, sample or control. Every figure here is vendor stated and unverified.
Ownership, funding and leadership
TRUE was founded in 2017 as SoftWorks AI by Ari Gross and Alison Wasserman. It rebranded in 2022. Long Ridge Equity Partners led a growth investment, and Kevin Bhatt of Long Ridge sits on the board. Steve Butler is CEO. TRUE reported 66 percent ARR growth over 2023 in January 2025. It reported 1,000 active platform users in March 2026, alongside two senior hires.
Candor was founded in 2018 in Alpharetta by Tom Showalter and raised 12.5 million dollars from Arthur Ventures in 2023. The CEO title appears as Mark Hinshaw in July 2024 and as Ryan Edmonds from October 2025 onward. That turnover is worth raising with references.
Integration gaps to press on
Neither vendor names an LOS or POS on its own site. That is unusual for products meant to live inside Encompass shops. TRUE refers to the LOS generically across all three modules. Candor puts APIs for POS, CRM and lending platform integration on a late 2026 roadmap. It does name an Argyle payroll data connection.
Neither appears on the Fannie Mae list of Income Calculator integrated vendors. Neither publishes a price. Neither surfaces in a G2 search for mortgage underwriting automation.
Which one to pick
An operations leader whose problem is touches, indexing and post-close rework should start with TRUE. The three modules cover setup through investor delivery.
A credit or risk leader whose problem is defect rates and repurchase exposure should start with Candor. The warranty is the asset being bought, and the software is the delivery mechanism.
Ask TRUE what falls outside the 90 percent straight-through figure and who handles those files. Ask Candor for the warranty policy wording, the named carrier, the coverage limit and the exclusions in writing.
