MonitorBase wins 3 of 5 axes. Same rubric, same weights, no sponsorships.

One is a cost line, the other is a revenue line

MonitorBase sends the lender an invoice. Matic sends the lender a commission cheque. That reverses the direction of cash between the two deals. Any comparison that ignores this misses the point. One line item needs budget approval. The other needs a revenue share agreement and a compliance sign off.

What MonitorBase sells

MonitorBase monitors a lender contact database and raises alerts. Alert families cover predictive scenarios, inquiries, credit migration and property listings. Predictive scenarios include home buyer, home seller, cash-out refinance, rate and term and MI removal. Experian is named as the data partner behind the alerts. The site says pricing is customised for every mortgage professional. Nothing further is published. Named CRM destinations include Total Expert, Surefire, Insellerate, BNTouch, Usherpa and Bonzo. Origination connections named are Calyx, Byte, LendingPad and Take3. Salesforce and HubSpot are reached through Zapier.

What Matic sells and who pays

Matic runs an embedded property and casualty insurance marketplace for lenders and servicers. Its site names more than 60 A-rated carriers, including Progressive, Travelers, Nationwide and Liberty Mutual. The partner page cites more than 70 carriers. Matic states that carriers pay it a commission when a customer switches policies. The service is free to the borrower. The lender gains an ancillary revenue stream and a co-branded borrower experience. Matic says it is licensed in all 50 states. It describes a turnkey API integration with little technical lift. Cover extends beyond home and auto to flood, umbrella, life and pet.

The retention argument each makes

MonitorBase frames retention as catching a past customer before a competitor does. Matic frames retention differently. Its partner page claims a two to three times uptick in customer retention. That figure carries no published method or sample. Matic also cites average savings above $970 on home and auto cover. Treat both claims as vendor stated and unverified. A January 2025 release cited more than 100 partner organisations. It described those partners as covering 20 percent of the American mortgage market. Both numbers are vendor stated.

Funding and ownership went different ways

Mobility Market Intelligence acquired MonitorBase on 13 February 2025. Terms were not disclosed. MMI bought the CRM platform Bonzo on 2 August 2023. Matic stayed independent and raised money instead. It announced $30 million from Vistara Growth in January 2025. That followed a $20 million Series B extension announced in October 2023. Vistara money was earmarked for distribution partnerships and platform work. MMI markets MonitorBase alongside its data products and the Bonzo CRM.

What neither vendor publishes

MonitorBase publishes no rate card and no per record cost. Matic publishes no commission split or revenue share percentage for partners. Matic also names no specific LOS, POS or CRM integration on its partner page. It describes a turnkey API instead. MonitorBase does name CRM and origination partners, though Encompass is absent. Neither company publishes a per lender revenue figure or an attach rate. Ask for both in the diligence pack.

Compliance sits in different places

MonitorBase points to prescreen rules under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Its compliance page describes internal safeguards applying lending criteria to prescreen campaigns. Matic carries insurance licensing rather than credit compliance. It says it is licensed in all 50 states. Its BBB profile shows an A+ rating and accreditation since April 2018. The two reviews involve different teams inside a lender. Matic says its advisers are not paid on borrower premium size.

Which one to pick

A lender trying to raise recapture rate on a shrinking pipeline should buy MonitorBase. The spend is real and the payback is measured in funded loans. A lender wanting to fund technology from ancillary income should sign with Matic. The revenue arrives without a licence build or a new department. Ask MonitorBase for cost per monitored record and typical alert volume per thousand contacts. Ask Matic for the commission schedule in writing and which lender systems it has already integrated.
