Speed to lead is the cheapest number you can fix

Response time drives contact rate harder than lead source, script, or headcount. Most shops lose the lead before anyone dials.
Response time decides contact rate. A lead answered in a minute converts at a multiple of one answered in an hour. Nothing else in the funnel moves that fast for that little money.
Shops keep treating it as a staffing problem. It is a routing problem.
Where the minutes disappear
A lead lands in a form. The form emails a queue. The queue is checked between appointments. That is thirty minutes gone before a phone rings.
Add a round-robin that assigns to whoever is next rather than whoever is free. Now the lead sits with someone at lunch.
Nobody logs any of this. The report says the lead was worked. The borrower already spoke to someone else.
What actually fixes it
Route on availability, not on rotation. Dial automatically on form submit. Escalate to a second officer on the first miss, not the third.
Missed calls need an owner. A missed call with no owner is a lead you paid for and gave away.
Text before voicemail. Borrowers answer texts they will not answer as calls.
Tools that treat it as a first-class problem
Shape scores 4.9 and builds the dial into the lead event rather than the follow-up task. See the full Shape review or the product at setshape.com.
Insellerate scores 4.5 and is built for call centers where routing speed is the conversion lever. The Insellerate review has the detail, and the product is at insellerate.com.
Bonzo scores 4.4 and suits individual officers whose edge is personal communication volume. Read the Bonzo review or visit getbonzo.com.
Measure it before you buy anything
Pull last month’s leads. Timestamp the first outbound attempt on each one. Sort by minutes elapsed and group by whether contact happened.
The curve will be steep and it will be uncomfortable. That curve is your business case.
